Post 3

Persephone opens her eyes, waking to a soft voice, the soft melody seemed familiar to her. She had to be dreaming, lucid because she could control what she was doing. The melody sounded so familiar as if-

A shriek sliced through the still air as if it were a knife. She quickly moves through the big white room, brightly lit, almost blinding her. It was weird, the faster she ran the further it seemed she had to go. The source of the shriek was behind a floral white wooden door.

Wait, this looks like my old room before- her train of thought was cut off again by the soft melody, it was sweet and soft, like the drizzling rain. And the voice was familiar like she had heard it before, Persephone blinked as the door vanished. And she saw a girl, about 13 years old rocking a small child, the child had raven black hair and was sobbing, hiccups ever so often as the older girl sang.

This is Callie when she was 13! And that must be me when I was 4.

The newly identified baby Persephone grabbed onto her cousin’s shirt and pressed her face into it, while the curly-haired girl whispered soothing words to her, like “eínai entáxei”  and “típota den prókeitai na sas vlápsei” which Persephone translated to ‘it’s okay’ and ‘nothing is going to hurt you’

“This must have been after the Malibu house fire,” Persephone realized as she looked at her younger version being comforted by a younger version of Callie. Callie looked so young, yet to be touched by her father's death.

Nani Nani to pedhi

Oso na ’pokimithi

Oso na ’rthi I mana tou

Na tou feri louloudha

Ore na tou feri louloudha

Moskhos ke gharoufala’

Persephone found that even though she has not heard that song in about a decade she can still sing it, her mind reflexively translating it.

(Sleep, sleep child

So you will go to sleep

So your mama will come

Bringing you flowers

Oh, bringing you flowers

Carnations and daisies)

How fitting, the song was about flowers like Persephone the goddess of spring.

Persephone watched the pair, and she smiled softly. Callie had been there for her after the house fire when her twin was also grieving he had become isolated and closed off.

Persephone had been heartbroken and traumatized. She began to feel the memories that she shoved into a small corner of her mind slowly come crawling up.

She could smell the burning parts and could feel the heat crawl up on her.

She gasps in shock as she sees the fiery orange flames, crackling and sizzling.

Perci could see her room go up in blazes, quickly spreading through the house, all she could see was the memories, the small memories of her childhood slowly being reduced to ashes.

She felt the heat, the smoke, and helplessness.

“No!” she screamed as she ran forward anywhere but here. She felt the smoke traveling into her choking her.

Persephone’s eyes spring open, sweat dripping down her neck, a foreboding feeling crawling through her as she let silent tears cascade down her damp cheeks. She hadn't had that nightmare in a long time.

“It’s okay, it was just a dream, that was only a dream” Persephone muttered softly, only to be interrupted by a meow, and a fast paw steps racing toward her. A soft smile spread across her face as she saw her kitten coming toward her. Perci quickly wiped the tears from her eyes as she chuckled.

“Hey Blue!” the blue kitten purred as she nuzzled Persephone, her tail wrapped around Persephone and her purring slowly calming down the frightened teen. Persephone ran her hand through the soft fur. Blue seemed to have a sixth sense to her distress. Perci’s frantic nerves slowly subsided, and her breathing slowed. She lay her head back on her bean bag, scratching her kitten’s ear and slowly succumbing to the exhausting of reliving her past. Blue curled up next to her, purring slightly.

Post 2

Hi! Sorry for the late post, hope you like it!

After finding out, Persephone has been really excited. She hasn’t seen them since she was 10 and she missed Callie. When Persephone found out, she had been reading a book,
Change, By Alexander Hamette, one of her favorite authors. She was waiting for her parents just to admit that they were going. She had been trying to get them to admit for a while now. Meanwhile, she sat on her fluffy bean bag listening to musicals, particularly, Hamilton.
‘Well they better hurry up because I want to start packing’, thought the teen crossly as she bounced her leg on the floor. Small bits of anxiety and worry seeped into her when she started to think about how she found out. Her parents, Sakura and Adrian had been talking loudly, so they probably wanted Persephone and Alexios to hear, though Akito was at his friends’ house.
Her door creaks open and her eyes fly to her door. A middle-aged man stood at the frame, his blond hair hung over his tired grey eyes.
“We have a surprise! We are-”
“Going to Greece in 3 days” Persephone finishes for him, waving her hand at him in dismissal. She had underlining distrust of her father after the Incident. Even after all these years.
“Yes we are, do you need help packing?”
“No” I don’t need help from you, father, thought Persephone bitterly, her hand all of a sudden aching from her scar.
Her father sighed in disappointment, as he left the room, not before a blue streak darted into the room.
“Hey Blue, how are you?” Persephone asked the small Russian Blue kitten, who in return jumped up onto her lap purring softly. She was always an affectionate kitten.
“Ready for your first trip?” a meow in response, “I am taking that as a yes, now get off furball, I will start packing,”
{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}
A pile of orange and purple shirts soon formed on her bed, all having the words Camp Half-Blood, Long Island Sound with the black pegasus or Camp Jupiter, SPQR with a wreath around it. She was a big PJO fan.
“Okay I have my Greek half-blood shirts, where are the rest of my camp clothes?” muttered Persephone as she sifted through all her colorful clothes.
“Bingo”
Persephone pulled out a blue box, corners worn and ripped from all the time she used it.
She slowly took off the top, revealing her worn and loved shirts,
I have not used you for 3 years, I have missed you thought Persephone as she pulled out a blue duffel bag,
She gently put it down on her bed, worn edges, telling a history of travel.
Persephone opened the light blue bag, the rubber linings stretching. She patted out the plastic sheet on the bottom and started folding her clothes, her garments for the waist down on the right side while the top half on the left.
“Do you need help, Persephone? I already packed for Kita, your father is helping Alexios” Persephone’s mother, or Haha as everyone called her, walked in. Her long-sleeved sweater flowed down her arms as she walked inside Persephone’s room with grace and regality that Persephone would never have.
Haha looks like she is floating, thought Persephone as she gave her mother a small bow.
“Konichiwa Haha,”
“Konichiwa Persephone” Sakura replies when she bows to her daughter,
“How is packing going? Are you almost done?”
“Yes, I am done” she made a tada motion with her hands as she points toward the blue duffel bag on her bed. Her mother moved through her room, toward her bed, opening her duffel bag and shifted through it.
“That is great Persephone, get Blue’s carrier and toys, and then rest up, we are leaving soon and you know how hard it is to get used to the Greek time difference, we don’t want a repeat of last time,” Persephone’s mother said softly as she closed the bag. Persephone shuddered, it was terrible.
Persephone quickly darted out of her room, avoiding the door, her footsteps echoing through the hallway as she neared the bathroom,
I still don’t understand why we keep the carrier in the bathroom, litter box I understand but carrier? Persephone mentally grumbled as she grabbed the navy blur carrier from behind the toilet. Persephone grunts as she starts to drag the heavy carrier back to her room, the carrier making screeching sound across the wooden floorboards.
“Got it,” Persephone grunts as she flops down the metal and plastic container on her rug. She dramatically falls down on her bean bag,
“Am I free from this strenuous labor?”

“Yes, you are free for now, your father and I have to go and pick up Kita, don’t do anything stupid” Her mother chuckles at Persephone’s flair, she rose to her feet, gliding through her daughter’s room and out. Leaving the teen to close her eyes and curl up, letting her mind drift for a while before eventually going into a snooze.

Post 1

I wrote this for English and I wanted to publish it.
Enjoy!

Prologue

“Persephone, come on we are leaving now! Hurry up!” A sigh escaped her when she heard her brother call.

I just sat down, this journal entry contains half my grade, I need to finish it or Mrs. Callas is going to have my skin,  Persephone grumbles as she slumped down in her chair. She slammed shut her journal and pushed her spinny chair out away from the white desk. She ran her hand through her hair as she reluctantly stood up on the cold bare wooden boards.
A meow came from behind her, startling the teen as she was turning around, in the process hitting her leg against her desk.
“Skatá”
Pain flared in her leg when Persephone started to walk toward her door, avoiding the purring feline that was spread out on her big fluffy bean bag.
“You're amused by this aren’t you Blue? Well, laugh all you want” the teen playfully scowled at the cat. Blue in return flicked her tail as if saying she understands.
It is a wonder Artemis isn’t like her, a bossy spoiled brat.
Persephone started to limp down the hallway, ignoring all the picture frames, containing small baby pictures and relatives that Persephone has no idea who they are.
“Persephone Jackson you better come here, right now or we are leaving without you,” the irritated voice called of her twin.
“Coming!” Persephone hissed as she started to run for the stairs, skipping steps, her leg aching.
She skids to a halt in front of her brother and cousin, Alexios and Callie.
“Ready as you called sir” Persephone quipped when her brother glared at her.
“Come on, louloúdi, we are going to see everything.”
